Territorial Cohesion and Social Investment: what challenges for the European Social Model?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are happy to announce the COHSMO Summer School 2021 on: \u201cTerritorial Cohesion and Social Investment: what challenges for the European Social Model?\u201d to be held in Aalborg (Denmark) from the 24th<\/sup> to the 27th<\/sup> of August 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aim<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Summer School aims at addressing theoretical and methodological issues related to \u201cterritorial cohesion\u201d, \u201csocial investment\u201d and the \u201cEuropean Social model\u201d cross-disciplinary sharing the insights gained with the COHSMO project with young scholars and the wider academic community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The themes will be discussed with extended references to how<\/em> we translated concepts into a methodological frame useful for empirical research. What concepts have been used? How did we operationalize the research questions and concepts? How did we solve criticalities along the way in our comparative research?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Format<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Summer School proposes a balanced mix of participants\u2019 presentations, keynotes (academic sessions) and hands-on<\/em> mentoring sessions (both theoretical and methodological) held by invited experts and COHSMO researchers. Social activities and scientific excursions will be organized as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Target<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We look for mid-level PhD students carrying out research on the Summer School themes in urban planning, political science, geography, social policy research, sociology and other spatially-sensitive disciplines. Participants will be asked to present their work and will get feedback in mentoring sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practicalities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participation will be free and participants have all local costs covered (accommodation plus social dinners \u2013 see the detailed programme). Arrival is foreseen on August 23rd<\/sup> and departure on August 28th<\/sup>. Transportation costs to and from Aalborg must be covered by participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Application deadline 15 July 2021<\/strong>: candidates should send a cv and a short summary of their research topic (max. 500 words) and a short motivation letter for participation. Successful candidates will be notified by July 21st<\/sup> 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
